Professor Jung-Wuk Hong is a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), where he also serves as Director of the Center for Disaster Science and Technology. He worked as a professor at Michigan State University from 2008 until 2012, where he was selected for the Young Investigator Program by the United States Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) in 2009. In 2012, he joined KAIST and has conducted research on the durability of structures and systems under extreme conditions. In 2020, he received a commendation from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT for his achievements in the field. Professor Jung-Wuk Hong is the Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Engineering Software (ADES), published by Elsevier (Impact Factor = 5.7), and has served as an editorial board member for multiple prestigious international journals. He is also actively engaged in global academic leadership and will serve as the Chair of the World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM) 2028, highlighting his international recognition in the field of computational mechanics.
